Perfume for the office
At work a scent should reach the person next to you, not the whole floor. That rules out less than you might think, as long as you pick the right family and spray with care.
Close to the skin
What matters is projection: how far a scent reaches. In an office you share the air for eight hours, often in a warm room. A useful rule: someone should only notice it when they are within arm's length.
Families that work
- Clean musks and soft woods: cedar, sandalwood, iris.
- Citrus and tea: bright in the morning, mostly gone by lunch, which is fine.
- Light florals: lily of the valley, peony, a sheer rose.
- Skin scents: ambrette, soft woods, a little amber.
Better kept for the evening
Heavy oud, dense sweet gourmands, strong leather and anything sold on how loud it is. Not because they are bad, but because a closed room multiplies them.
How much, where and when
- One to three sprays, on the chest or the neck rather than wrists you wave around.
- Apply at home, not at your desk.
- An EDT or a light EDP is easier to dose than an extrait. What the concentrations mean.
The office occasion in Scenino
Switch Scenino to the office occasion and it holds back loud and sweet bottles and moves the quiet ones forward, with the reason written underneath, for example "quiet enough for the office". How the daily pick works.
